Woodfarm Education Centre (WEC)

The Woodfarm Education Centre (WEC) in Giffnock, Glasgow, is the FIRST facility acquired by East Renfrewshire’s Muslim community in its 40+ year history. It is managed by the Woodfarm Educational Trust (W.E.T), a registered Scottish charitable company (Scottish charity No. SC040818).

WEC is a large detached building with extensive (free) parking facilities located at: 1 Burns Grove, Giffnock, Glasgow G46 7HF (directly opposite Woodfarm High School, on Robslee Road, Giffnock).

The objectives of the WEC are two-fold:

  • To advance education, culture, heritage and religion for the public benefit among the residents of East Renfrewshire, particularly the Minority Ethnic Muslim Community.
  • To promote religious and racial harmony for the public benefit among the residents of East Renfrewshire.

In line with its objectives, WEC caters for all aspects of the Islamic faith and promotes a policy of tolerance and mutual respect for all religions and cultures.

WEC is a not-for-profit non-sectarian charitable organization run by volunteers. It is not funded, backed or supported by any Government or private organization, and is funded entirely by voluntary donations, activity/course fees and fundraising events.

WEC is not associated or related to any organisation or mosque in Glasgow but has its own independent ethos and code of conduct based on universal and Islamic principles of justice, compassion and service to humanity, which also actively promote religious and racial harmony – in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Trust.

Therefore all organisations and people from all walks of the community are welcomed at the centre providing the activities they promote are in accordance with its ethos.

WEC endeavors to achieve its aims and objectives by providing a range of activities and services, including:

  • religious and spiritual
  • education and training
  • social welfare
  • culture and heritage
  • economic regeneration.
